DAYTONA 500 TICKET SCAM ALERT!
I received the email below and think it is important to warn race fans. Please go read our page Race Ready, under the topic Ticket Brokers, Scalpers and Just Plain Thieves for more helpful info on protecting your money when buying tickets.
FROM RACEMAMA: It used to be that you had to use other ticket areas besides the track to get tickets because so many were sold out way ahead of time but that is just no longer true. Most of the track's website have a section where fans are selling their tickets they can't use...the track checks them out to make sure they are ticket holders BEFORE they post the ad.
To Whom It May Concern,
The below ad posted on Daytona Beach craigslist was a scam [confirmed by ebay]. The seller a Linda Harmon in Richmond, VA [supposedly] wanted to use an ebay agent in the UK, said her Paypal account wasn't working & wanted the funds sent via Western Union. I tried repeatedly to get her to give me the actual seat numbers to no avail. I talked several times w/the ticket office @ Daytona & the supposedly tixs were not in her name, no Linda Harmon had tickets in Sprint Tower Sec F Row 29. Ebay informed me that an ebay agent would not be involved in any craigslist transaction if the tickets weren't posted on ebay.
Ms. Harmon even e-mailed pic of tixs w/barcode & seats numbers covered, said it was for her security.

Sprint Tower (Was Winston Tower in the good old days) larger seats in the original section of the tower
not the new postage stamp seats like in the newer sections of the towers.
These are tickets I have had for years. I had a total knee replacement a month ago and I am not sure I
am up to the walking and stair climbing for this years race.
Section F, Row 29 2 great seats together near the end of the aisle. Concession stands and restrooms just steps away.

And there is a 2nd ad posted on same site that has a different e-mail address in reply, but the same MO. T ad's contact person is Kristin Fox, location not given when asked for. When the reply from Ms. Fox was so close to the MO that Linda Harmon we stopped pursuit.

I've notified ebay, DIS, DB CoC, & DB craigslist so far.
And last, but far from least...Amen! to your second paragraph under About Tickets. You would not believe what the Daytona Speedway and in particular the ticket rep. has done for me in return for working w/them on this.
