Congratulations Sarah Fisher

Sarah Fisher, long-time Indy car driver and team owner, has become the first Indy 500 starter to ever give birth according to Versus TV. Sarah recently gave birth to a daughter. I guess IndyCar’s departing celebrity spokesmodel can’t top that. Sarah, daughter, and Sarah’s hubby are all said to be doing fine.

Digital Antique Technology

With the recent release of a photo of the fuel injected engine, a Roush-Yates engine, I noticed that despite the announcement that NA$CAR was incorporating digital technology into the engine, it’s nothing more than the antique and obsolete Throttle Body Injection (TBI) system with what appears to be coils for each cylinder and a lack of a single, central distributor like is currently used. With the addition of the extra electronic parts, this will also allow for teams to more easily hide their traction control systems (which are currently used by about 30 Cup cars) and allow the teams to do some other tricks that might be missed by NA$CAR’s Chief Inspector Mr. Magoo and associates as they’re not technologically savvy enough to know what to look for or how certain electronic cheats work. And as I mentioned a while back, by using the TBI system, it will allow NA$CAR to still save on their insurance rates by allowing the continued use of the “temporary since the 1980’s” restrictor plate as the TBI construction and manifold use basically what is being used now which will accommodate the restrictor plate installation. So while other racing series are using turbo charging, electronic & direct fuel injection, NA$CAR still maintains their tradition of continued use of obsolete technology.

Bye Bye Motegi

With IndyCar running their last road course race of the season at the Motegi Twin Rings, they also closed out a chapter in history as it was also the last IndyCar race at the track. Some race fans might remember NA$CAR running on the oval track at Motegi for an exhibition race in which Mike Skinner scored his only Cup win in a rain slowed race in which the Cup cars actually ran rain tires.

Interesting Observation

Jules the Engine Guy made this interesting observation about the rain-delayed race at Joliet;
How is 4 hours of racing too long and 4 hours of hype (when rain delayed) is ok?

Good question Jules, especially when there have been a number of complaints about 4 hour races being too long.

To go along with this, it seems that with the Busch Series at least, there are fewer Ms Terry DeBris cautions and fewer real cautions overall this year than last year. Which means the races are taking less time to broadcast and falling into the 3 hour or less realm, which seems to be what the Short Attention Span Crowd prefers.

Rex White to the HOF?

I had the chance to ask Kyle Petty on Twitter this past weekend if he thought 1960 Grand National Champion (and my good friend) Rex White would make it into the NA$CAR HOF while Rex was still alive to enjoy it. Kyle is of the opinion that Rex should make it into the HOF shortly and will be able to enjoy the honors. I sure hope so. Rex is the oldest living NA$CAR champion. And normally, I wouldn’t set foot on the HOF property but when Rex is inducted, I will be there as a sign of support for him.

Congratulations on Number 100

With Michael McDowell’s last place finish at Chicago, he gave Toyoda their 100th last place finish since they showed up in NA$CAR. Quicker than any other make to race in what was America’s premiere stock car racing series which races spec series cars nowadays.

Belle Isle on 2012 IndyCar Schedule

The Detroit city council has given its approval to proceed with a race on Belle Isle. Penske has been pushing for a race there and is lobbying for June 1-3, 2012.

Villeneuve to Buy Red Bull teams?

It is being reported that Villeneuve is lining up investors in an attempt to buy Red Bull’s NASCAR operation. He would run a partial schedule along with another driver to be named. Could this be where Mark Martin is going? Plus the current ownership of the Red Bull operation wasn’t happy with the performance of the brand they were currently running and were looking to switch to Chevy. Whether or not Villeneuve will switch brands remains unknown.

2012 Indy Car Makes First Oval Laps

The 2012 IndyCar makes its first oval Laps. The test was closed but some intrepid fans made it. According to one person that spoke briefly with Wheldon, reported that Wheldon got the car flat out around the 0.875-mile oval within 15 laps. I’ll be very curious to see what sort of laps the new car turns when they put the new engines in it.

NA$CAR Holdings Inc. Being Sued

NA$CAR Holdings Inc. (NA$CAR’s actual name) has broken federal telemarketing laws by sending out unsolicited text messages to cell phones to promote a Sprint Cup Series race, a California woman said in a putative class action filed Wednesday. Penalty is $1500 per unsolicited text message. This could get into the mega-millions. Wow. I wonder how many other race fans in other states have received unsolicited text messages from NA$CAR?

And in a different lawsuit in NC, a woman is/was suing NA$CAR Holdings Inc and NA$CAR Media Group for violating an agreement in which they deviated from the submitted script while shooting a music video in a school locker room. It seems that the locker room was only supposed to be a back drop but NA$CAR Media Group brought in the singer, which they said they weren’t going to do, and used some language and actions which were deemed inappropriate and deviated from the submitted video script. Any comments Paul Brooks, head of NA$CAR Media Group?

New Plate for Talladega

Once again, NA$CAR is changing the restrictor plates and radiator pressures to create more artificial records and generate more faux headlines. Based on what some crew chiefs have said, we looking at the cars only being able to do the “love bug shuffle” for maybe a lap before the cars change positions. This will generate a number of artificially created lead changes which will create new manipulated records which will generate more artificially created headlines from the NA$CAR controlled media. Also in the process of doing the swaps, the drivers are probably going to set a new record for the number of cars wrecked at Talladega because of all the swapping going on and the prohibition of the teams using some sort of lubricant on their bumpers. I sure hope Faux King Brian doesn’t pull his arm out of its socket trying to pat himself on the back for this idiotic and expensive (to the teams) idea.

Latest Garage Rumors from Faux Sports:

Next season, the NNS will disappear and be replaced by a new series called DANICAR. The 3 hour semi-reality show broadcast will consist of 2 hours of Danica, 55 minutes of commercial coverage, and 5 minutes of special guests like Ricky Stenhouse Jr, Trevor Bayne, Reid Sorenson, Aric Almirola, and 30 something other folks in a race track setting.

The discussion and handshake shown before the Loudon race was Penske’s assurance that Mafia Mike would still have a job when Penske takes over NA$CAR from Faux King Brian. I wonder how Mafia Mike will enjoy pushing a broom around the track to remove debris?

Jeremy Mayfield will be taking a position on the staff of The Rock prior to NA$CAR running their truck Series race there next season. When informed of this, Faux King Brian spewed “soda” all over patrons at The Chart House in Daytona Beach while mumbling something to the effect that he’d make sure that urine test was spiked even better this time around before taking to the streets in the Palm Tree Assault Vehicle. Daytona Beach PD is keeping quiet with no comments coming out of the fragile Glasscock, DBPD Chief.

The excess weight that Tony Stewart referred to as being removed was in the form of a massive hemorrhoid which bore a striking resemblance to Faux King Brian in size and weight.

Total Pull-out By Crown Royal

We pretty much knew that Crown Royal wouldn’t be back with Roush next season but what hasn’t been announced is that on the Grand Am side of NA$CAR, Crown Royal is also leaving. Michael Shank Racing, who was sponsored by Crown Royal in Grand Am, is also leaving the Grand Am Series to pursue racing in IndyCar since the cost structure of IndyCar has become more favorable. But you have to wonder if some of the sponsors who are involved in Cup and Grand Am will be pulling their sponsorships for both sides thus causing a lot of financial problems on both sides of NA$CAR’s “house” and causing more
