Having said that, this isn’t what caused me to light up the ole keyboard. The love and support of the NASCAR Nation to those of us in need or with problems made me realize that we truly are One Big Family. The concern and support I’ve received over my health problems is amazing. People I’ve never met write to tell me of their concern for my health and express support and encouragement for my smoking cessation. Without realizing what or why I continue to espouse my thoughts about the state of NA$CAR I came to realize it is simply the family atmosphere of our beloved sport and it’s long time, enduring fans.
While we are one big family we are also proud of and long for the traditional values that made us so devoted to our sport. When one of our children misbehaves we are deeply saddened but stand by them in hopes that they will realize their mistakes and their choice of a wrong path can be righted. Right now, most of us are of the opinion that Brian France, beloved son of Billy France, has veered onto a disastrous path and we hope he will see the error of his ways and return to the right path. When we see his boneheaded insistence that he knows best we are disappointed and, in some cases, angered. As a family, we are saddened at his straying from the family fold into a world we wish to be no part of. [Note: Billy France was never a Bill France, Jr.]
The France family has had their share of problems, of late, with the loss of Billy and Bruce Kennedy, husband of Lisa France Kennedy. Rick Hendrick has had his share of problems also but look where he’s at today. I too have had my problems beyond my current health situation. My eldest son, a drug addict, is in prison for child molestation. My father and two younger brothers died way too early from heart related problems caused by poor eating habits. Does that give me a right to make bad decisions for myself or those whom I care about? No way. I didn’t raise my eldest son to be what he’s become and, needless to say, he’s been disowned. King Brian has no right to make bad choices for our sport because of his family problems or superiority complex. If he can’t cope then turn the reigns over to someone who can. My take is he is an arrogant twit and not part of our family and, maybe, his own family. At this moment, I’ve disowned him too. My son can’t be reclaimed in my heart but Brian still has a slim but doubtful chance.
Here’s the deal my friends, it’s time to bring the family aspect of our sport back to the forefront. My loyal readers have made abundantly clear that we care for one another but the leadership of CA$HCAR has apparently disowned us and bastardized too many of the old timers, our very foundation. Am I saying all change is bad? No way. While I, and many others, believe the sport needs to evolve we aren’t happy with the revolution brought about King Brian with The Chase, top thirty five and refusal to make the COT what was promised. The fun is gone, the family disowned and the slippery slope is getting steeper.
All the above was brought about due to the outpouring of love and support for the overcoming of my problems from people I’ve never met. My fervent wish is that Brian France could feel and comprehend
the compassion of us in the NASCAR
Nation but he seems immune to our
displeasure and seems bound to charge
down the path of no return. To my
humble way of thinking, it’s a damn shame
that he doesn’t feel the love and, maybe
more importantly, can‘t show the love.
In closing, thank you for your love,
concern and support. May you always
love and support your little ones and
loved ones with all your heart and soul.
The three most powerful words, “I Love
You” works miracles as I have been
recently reminded.
Be safe and God bless. You are the best and I love you and wish you could see my
tears of joy through the web.
We are the land of the FREE because of the BRAVE.
