I have been a Jeremy Mayfield fan since 1994. I have stuck by Jeremy thru the good times, and the bad times. It just breaks my heart to see him go thru the times he's having now.
Jeremy has proven that he is a winner; he's raced trikes, bikes, go-carts, late models, ARCA cars and has 5 wins in the Nextel cup. Jeremy has also made the chase 2 times. Jeremy has seen all the good times in NASCAR, and has been a top 5 driver there.
Some where there started a few 'brick walls' for Jeremy. Jeremy was not allowed in the garage while at Penske's, because of his team mate.Jeremy never knew what kind of a car he was getting, till it was unloaded at the track and one time he got a Bristol car for a mile and a half track. Just think if at your job there was somebody trying to hold you back, ruining your work, you'd be mad also. So, some remarks were made, and a statement said 'they sent the wrong car.' Jeremy was released right quick. Ok, now the years have passed; Jeremy, Mr. Penske and Rusty have all made friends. Yes, Jeremy takes his blame for what he said and knows it didn't help any.
Jeremy next gets to drive the 19 car. The team was in the learning stages, and it took a bit, but Jeremy got the team running very good. Jeremy got 2 wins, and made the chase there 2 times. Jeremy also thought that he and the owner were friends, buds you know. Well, Jeremy saw his team, cars, crew chief all go to the team mate. Jeremy was given R&D cars to drive. The owner wasn't around much, and it was quite a job that Jeremy had to get the cars decent. One day a remark was made 'he's never here with us, always gone' and it got published. Jeremy was promised earlier that year that he could keep his job until the seasons end but he could look for another ride. Jeremy was accused of tanking the car. Jeremy went to court and won his promised salary. Jeremy lost a person who was supposed to be his best friend, and of course was made to look like a fool, when the new driver took over the car. To me it looked like,' well, gramma's coming, let's get out the Sunday best'....so Jeremy looked like a fool, a blabber mouth to lots of people, that didn't know the truth. People in the garage knew what was going on, but couldn't say anything.
Jeremy made friends again with Mr. Penske, but the betrayal of the best friend/owner, will never see them friends again. The next year Jeremy was going to drive a Toyota, new to the series. Well, the sponsor didn't give hardly any of the promised money to run the team. Jeremy put in his own money to try and make the races. At Charlotte, Jeremy saved the car from a 360 spin, one of Jeremy’s highlights from the tenure there. Shortly after, Jeremy asked to be released. Jeremy and his owner parted friends. If there had been money to run the team, Jeremy would of done fine there. Jeremy than went to drive for Haas CNC, 4 races in '07 and 7 races in 08, but there was no help from the 'higher-ups' to make the team better. So Jeremy left the team and really no other driver has kept the car in the top 35, like Jeremy did for quite awhile this year. Jeremy went for 12 days over to Iraq, with some NHRA drivers and talked to our soldiers there. Jeremy was very moved by the experience.
Jeremy is also marketable...his 'hey Jeremy'
commercial is a favorite of many people. Jeremy
has done many other commercials that people
love. Jeremy is very appreciative of his fans. He
has many who have been there from the
beginning.
Jeremy and Shana have a beautiful farm and
have many employees who have been with him
for years. Jeremy lost his dad last year and he's
taken in his dad's animals and takes very good
care of them. So I’m hoping that an owner will
take a chance and hire Jeremy for he still has
the desire, and can drive a race car. Just
because some drivers are wearing a uniform
now, and maybe are being considered for a ride, the owners should talk to Jeremy and one hire him for I know that Jeremy will do the owner and sponsor proud.
There are lots of people on the forums that put Jeremy down. They just don't know the truth, so
I hope that you learned something today.
This article comes from the bottom of my heart, for I just know that Jeremy Mayfield will do an awesome job for you and your sponsor. Please give Jeremy a call and hire him.
