Jeremy Mayfield Shows His Fans a Good Time
by Rita Jo Lynch 08/13/08

A few years back, 2 friends and I got to do something that we'll treasure for the rest of our lives.  We got to spend some time at Jeremy and Shana's new home and farm.

The three of us met up in down town Charlotte and while there we ran into some of Jeremy and Shana's employees/friends.  We became good friends with the employees thru the years, so this was an agreed upon meeting.  We were waiting for one of the employees/friends to get there so that we could have lunch. Unknown to me, Shana was comming to join us. All of a sudden I turned my head and looked...there was Shana. WOWZERS!!!!  We ordered lunch, looked at our fur-kids pictures and than we went along as Shana ran some errands for Jeremy.

We all then made the ride to Jeremy and Shana's lovely home and farm.  Shana left us because she and Jeremy had a prior engagement. The employees/friends showed us around the property; some of the farm land, neatly mowed fields, a pond where Jeremy fishes and a big tall stand where they hunt deer.  Than we went to a barn where Jeremy keeps some of his cars. We got to see Jeremy's red, beautiful, Dodge Viper but it was locked so we couldn't sit inside.  There was the John Boat, that Steve rode down the hill and into the pond, as seen on a NASCAR 360 show of Jeremy and Shana.

We toured their lovely big home. (Jeremy and Shana are remodeling it now.) There was a bedroom, that had baseball players on 2 walls in a mural. The rug was made just like a baseball field and grass.  Outstanding.

We were leaving the new house, when we heard drums playing.  We went down to see who it was...Yes, the drummer was Jeremy.  We talked, joked a bit and I got a lesson in not spending too much money when I go shopping next time.  Jeremy was really happy that we were there. He was dressed in his creased jeans and black shirt.  We got to see his boyhood trike, bike and a motorcycle. All the fur-kids were around and they seemed happy to see us also.

Of course me, I had to tell Jeremy about when
they were in Las Vegas and I checked out a big
hotel that I thought was where they stayed.
Maybe this was their room; they either ate
hamburgs or Italian food.

We met Jeremy's Mom and her husband.  So
we all talked and watched the dogs play some
more, till it was time to leave.  It was sad to
leave them, knowing that I'll never get the
chance again.  As I told Jeremy, Shana, his
Mom and anybody and everybody...This day
will be in my heart forever.

It was a wonderful thing that Jeremy did that for
us.  As an accomplished nascar driver, Jeremy respects his wife, employees, his owner and sponsor, his equipment, friends and fans. Jeremy takes very good care of things and the people in his life just like he will if you, an owner, will give Jeremy a chance to prove it to you and your sponsors.
