RACE RECON
Mad Mikie's Rants and Raves: Jeremy Mayfield
by Mad Mikie (Mike's Page) 07/14/09
much less to race at Daytona. Not to mention the late entry fee he’d have to pay, the inspection fees, and the cost of actually getting to the track. Plus the deal with Gunselman fell through because of their sponsor. NA$CAR will continue to fling bovine feces at Mayfield throughout the entire legal process and even once it’s over with. Tommy Baldwin was right when he said Mayfield is a marked man.

What would’ve happened had Mayfield actually shown up? Well, the first thing is the car would’ve failed tech inspection, even if it was 100% legal and totally within specs. Then Mayfield would’ve received a variety of penalties, such as rough driving even if he wasn’t, speeding on pit road even if he was 10 mph below the speed limit, and missing lug nuts even if they aren’t missing. Just ask Crusty about how NA$CAR got back at him for paying a $10,000 fine in pennies. And if you think NA$CAR doesn’t do things like that, I got it confirmed by a former Busch East official that they do in fact do things like that to get their point across to drivers and teams.

With the issuance of the injunction, it was a major slap on the genitalia for NA$CAR. But then, after some of the recent court actions that NA$CAR has been involved with that haven’t gone their way; they’ve probably built up a tolerance for pain in that area. The judge, who issued the injunction, U.S. District Court Judge Graham Mullen, ruled in Mayfield's favor saying the likelihood of a false positive was "quite substantial."  I’ve pointed out that with the medications that Mayfield is taking that false positives were a reality but obviously I should’ve put that in coloring book format for somebody down in the Ivory Towers so they’d understand it. Major kick in the crotch of His Royal Highness and the drug policy and testing program. This is the first time, really, that NA$CAR’s drug testing policy and procedures have been put under a legal microscope and remember, NA$CAR asked that this case be moved to the Federal Court. They may now start to understand the old saying of “Be careful what you wish for, you just may get it”.

And as with safety issues and the initial reactions to Aaron Fike’s admission to using drugs before racing, NA$CAR has once again had a knee jerk reaction. Only this time, it seems to be bringing their drug testing procedures more in line with the drug testing procedures of major league sports and the WWE, who they emulate weekly on the track. Drivers are having to use ID, sign and initial a lot of stuff, and empty their pockets. Kasey Kahne said it took them 40 minutes to do what had only taken 10 minutes in the past. Well Kasey, it wasn’t being done properly in the past. Still, we had similar procedures in the military and had it down to 10 minutes. Most of that time was signing paperwork, checking seals, and verifying information and identity. Of course, one thing we had which they don’t appear to have is what we jokingly referred to as the “Willy Watcher”. That was some poor soul who was assigned to make sure that the sample being collected actually came from where it was supposed to be coming from and wasn’t being poured in from some sort of container. The problem with this is that some folks have a problem with “public performance” and have a difficult time giving a sample. But in the NA$CAR world, I guess they’re worried about invasion of privacy or jokes coming out afterwards about the “endowment” or lack thereof of certain drivers and NA$CAR officials. Of course, there are some psychology theories related to “size” being inversely proportioned to the need for compensation through greed and power. This might explain a few things about the Ivory Tower Gang. But remember, they’re only theories and I’m not a psychologist although I do play one on TV. Just kidding. I don’t play one on TV, I‘m not one, but the theories are real.

And what about the lamestream media? First they found Mayfield guilty even though through a little research on their part they’d have found out that maybe what Mayfield was saying is true. False positives are a fact of life with drug testing. And with Mayfield’s medical conditions of ADHD and allergies and the medications he’s taking for them that of course there would be both positive and false positive results on the actual testing. But no, they all lined up, drank the Kool Aid, firmly planted their lips on the Royal Posterior, and followed the party line of guilty until proven innocent. Then there were fans who instantly wanted to hang Mayfield from the nearest lamp post without really knowing what all was going on or didn‘t bother doing some research on their own about drug interactions, drug testing, and false positives. Now, with the injunction in place, the lamestream media seems to be saying it’s opened the Gates of Hell to all sorts of potential lawsuits and they’re riding the coattails of Ramses Posthole’s remarks about Mayfield not being at Daytona. Folks, I’ve been in the race shops and I know how long it takes to get a race vehicle “race ready” to get it to the track. 3 days is not enough time. I’ve also been through one of the most thorough drug testing programs in place with 20 years of it in the military. So I know a few things about how they’re supposed to be run and the collection procedures. Then there are some lamestream media folks who are saying none of the drivers want to drive with Mayfield on the track and yet Mark Martin and Matt Kenseth have both said they have no problems with Mayfield. Even Shrub, in his normal “intelligent derriere” manner said he didn’t have a problem racing with Mayfield. The more you read the articles about what’s going on with Mayfield, the more you find out which ones are little more than parrots, who’s drinking the Kool Aid, and who’s lining up to firmly plant their limber facial labia upon the Imperial Gluteus Maximus. The pickings are getting slim when it comes to independent thought and raising questions about what’s really going on within NA$CAR, not just about the Mayfield deal, but also in the garage area and within the walls of the Ivory Towers. Guess I won’t be getting any Christmas cards from the lamestream media folks or His Royal Highness once again this year.

Reading through some of the drivers’ statements, you have to wonder if they’re on drugs and if they’re being tested. They say one thing in a court affidavit, which was remarkable since 3 of them
were the same, then say “I’m so confused” to the lamestream media. Give me a break. Then to
say a driver should be tested so often they shouldn’t be able to drive? I thought this was
supposed to be done by random testing, which the Mayor was all for right after the Aaron Fike
admission but now that it’s Mayfield, he’s changed his position once again. I know who I won’t be voting for when he runs for a state office in Virginia. I’ll write in his brother instead. They talk about how this is one, big, happy family in the garage area but if this is one, big, happy, family, it’s one of the most dysfunctional happy families I’ve ever seen.

Here’s an article that I read on July 5th and wasn’t on Jayski regarding the Mayfield case:

http://www.lvrj.com/sports/49971987.html

Mr. Graney is in the same boat as me. He won’t be getting any Christmas cards from His Royal Highness.

After reading NA$CAR’s reason for appealing the injunction issued to let Mayfield drive, I noticed NA$CAR cited that it was a matter of a threat to public safety. I find this extremely interesting considering that one of the biggest threats to public safety, besides poor government, is that of drivers who are under the influence of alcohol more so than that of drugs as there tend to be more drunk drivers out there on the roads. I’m not saying that drivers operating under the influence of drugs aren’t as dangerous as those who drive under the influence of alcohol because they are. But if they’re going to cite a threat to public safety as being a reason to keep Mayfield off the track, they better be looking right there in the Ivory Towers as a threat to public safety because we all know who the biggest hazard to public safety is in Volusia County Florida driving a certain silver Palm Tree Assault Vehicle while spilling “sodas“ on himself and all over the interior of the Palm Tree Assault Vehicle.

With His Royal Rectaltude controlling vast portions of the media, you have to wonder just how Mayfield can get a fair shake in this deal.  Providing, of course, you believe in the legal tenants of innocent until proven guilty.  We have Ramses Posthole, Official Purveyor of the Gospel According to Faux King Brian, using his bully pulpit and issuing official Propaganda Sheets direct from the Royal Ministry of Propaganda to hand out to the lamestream media, the media which they control oh so very well. Step up boys and girls, there’s plenty more Kool Aid where that came from.  Then we have those who are easily swayed with the possibility of “Official Credentials” who’d sell their mother to get them. Check E-Bay. You might be able to get a good deal on a mother for some media credentials. And of course, we’ve got some folks still wet behind the ears who don’t know how NA$CAR operates or its’ history when it comes to drivers rocking the Royal Barge.

Then comes those of us who are unwashed,
unannoited, and probably considered to be
blasphemers because we don’t drink the purple
Kool Aid, don’t sing praises to His Infernal
Rectaltude, we question his decisions, and have
a long memory of just how all business has been
done in what was once a great sport. Or as Jim
McCoy at Bump-Drafts describes us folks who
aren‘t in the lamestream media, “The Sidestream
Media”. Interesting term. But I digress. Anyway,
most folks of the Sidestream Media seem to be
the only ones who have really given Mayfield the
benefit of the doubt. We’ve questioned the
results of the test, we researched the
possibilities of false positives, we’ve seen the
willingness of Mayfield to submit to a more thorough hair follicle test which NA$CAR refuses to even acknowledge, and for some of us older folks who were around when Fred Flintstone first got his drivers license, we note how NA$CAR has done business in the past when it comes to drivers who question the (in)finite wisdom of the Ivory Tower Gang. So can Mayfield get a fair shake in the lamestream media? Not as long as his Royal Highness controls who does and doesn’t get credentials and who keeps drinking the purple Kool Aid by the gallons.

I hope everyone had a sane and safe 4th.  Jeremy Mayfield got a legal break from a judge with some sense.  Mayfield won his injunction but you can bet he’ll fail inspection and be penalized at each and every turn for every race he runs until this deal is finally settled.

You have to wonder about the “infinite wisdom” of Royal Ministry of Propaganda spokesman Ramses Posthole saying Mayfield doesn’t appear to be in a hurry to get back to racing because he’s not at Daytona. Obviously, he must be on another planet or doesn’t read NA$CAR’s own official web site. It takes more than 3 days to get a car prepped to race,
