bring them back into production, and use those. At least then you wouldn’t have to worry about all that new fangled computer controlled electronics you seem to be afraid of NA$CAR.

What did I say about Danica not coming?

Have you ever noticed that when a driver does something good, he’s a NA$CAR driver but when it comes to health insurance, disability, or widows benefits, they’re all independent contractors?

Good to see Old Man Time got the pole at Bristol and had a decent finish. Not bad for an old guy. You are taking notes, right Your Majesty? 1000 starts, still competitive, and in the play-offs. And you wanted to chase off all the over 40 drivers? What a mistake that was.

I wonder if Vickers meant Shrubbery was at the end of his rope by grasping it with his fingers or at the end of his rope after the trap door was released?

Despite the announcement that Bristol was a sell-out, you could see plenty of empty seats along the back stretch and between Turns 3 & 4. Still it was a lot closer to a sell-out than what we’ve seen at a lot of tracks so far this season.

It appears that the Booth Buffoons were trying to stir something up when they said that other drivers thought Marcos Ambrose was only a road racer. Obviously they haven’t been paying attention to the Tasmanian Devil this season. But then, what’s new with the Commentating Colons missing the obvious or trying to cause problems in the garage where none exist?

Too bad His Royal Highness wasn’t at Bristol and brought out the same way the drivers were with them picking their own intro music. The perfect song for the Emperor of All Things NA$CAR? “Bring in the Clowns”.

Normally, if Dale Jr. sneezes, there are at least 20 articles about it and even a headline or two in some major newspapers. Dale Jr. finishes in the Top 10 during a season when Top 10’s have been the exception rather than the rule and there are 3-4 articles? Could this be payback for his recent criticisms of His Imperial (Im)Potent-ate and the POS, I mean Camry of Today and the resulting boring races?

The Human Contradiction, Shrubbery, strikes again. Normally when somebody wrecks him like what happened during the Bristol Busch race, he lets his mouth and temper run wild as we‘ve seen in all 3 racing series over the past couple of years. Instead, it’s like somebody slipped him a Mickey or some ‘Ludes or something. He’s all cool, calm, and collected, unlike in the past when he‘s been wrecked before and was hot enough to fry a dozen eggs and a couple rashers of bacon on. Then giving the checkered flag away after the Cup race, well, I’m sure there was a happy fan but there was also a very unhappy sponsor whose name was on the checkered flag. I happen to like that bit of irreverence and tweaking NA$CAR’s sponsor driven nose. I’m sure he probably had to go write on the chalkboard inside the White Elephant, “I will not give a checkered flag away that has a sponsor‘s name on it” 1,000 times.

Based on NA$CAR’s on criteria though, you have to wonder, if this Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde act of Shrubbery constitutes some mandatory urinalysis.

Ryan Newman runs in 4 different races at Bristol and he gets 2 stories the whole weekend? What’s wrong with this picture?

There were 2 recent articles about Wendell Scott and NA$CAR’s diversity program and the HOF nominees: Omission of a Nascar Pioneer Stirs a Debate    Great Scott

I was rather surprised to see the NY Times actually mention NA$CAR, much less mention Wendell. Then to have the Washington Post actually mention Wendell was even a bigger surprise. Both articles mention the problems that he had, the difficulties he face, and the prejudice that he suffered at the hands of fans, fellows, racer, and NA$CAR, although they didn’t mention Bill France Sr. by name, who was instrumental in keeping Wendell from obtaining sponsorship and decent equipment. Just about anything you find on the official website of NA$CAR regarding Wendell Scott seems to omit certain information, especially when it comes to his win at Jacksonville or the interference of Bill France Sr. The articles briefly mention the lack of success of the Diversity Program and point to JPM as the only minority who is enjoying any sort of success in NA$CAR. NA$CAR had a great opportunity with both Bill Lester and Marc Davis but seem to have missed the boat with both of them. They could, if they wanted to, have some success with Marc Davis if they put half the effort into hyping him the way they have certain other drivers. Right now, Davis suffers from one of the same problems that Wendell suffered from. Lack of sponsorship. Why companies, especially companies owned or run by African-Americans, haven’t stepped up and sponsored Davis is beyond me. It’s the perfect opportunity for them to show their support. Hey Oprah, you were willing to back a presidential candidate that hardly anyone had ever heard of, how come you won’t back a race car driver?

But I digress. If a former NASCAR champion who
pioneered steering, chassis, and suspension
improvements which are still used to this day in
stock car racing can’t get into the International
Motorsports Hall of Fame, what are the odds of
Wendell Scott making it into the NA$CAR Hall of
Fame while his family is still living to receive the
honors? If the wizard of a mechanic who coined
the term NASCAR can’t even get nominated the
first time around, what are the odds that Wendell
will even be considered any time soon? And what
are the odds that the truth about how Bill France
Sr. and NASCAR prevented Wendell Scott from
getting sponsorship and decent equipment will
actually be shown or told in the HOF? Will the
truth be told or will it be covered up like it has been by the France family over all these years? Sure, Wendell deserves a place in the HOF museum. He was a military veteran and was able to do something with his racing career that those of us who have served know all too well. He was able to do so much with so little for so long. So while his racing record may not truly show what he was capable of thanks to the interference from the Frances, his sheer tenacity and operating on a shoestring budget over all those years should count a great deal. His racing record alone is better than that of Bill France Sr. But that aside, will the France family ever admit to the injustice that was done to Wendell? I think that’s a more important issue than Wendell being nominated to the HOF.

Normally, I close out by recognizing our troops or some company or group that is going the extra mile to help out our troops and/or their families. This time, I want to congratulate a couple of independent contractors who took time from their busy schedule to help pack up various supplies and goodies to be sent to the troops overseas helping to defend our country and our way of life. Those independent contractors? None other than Jeff Burton and Casey Mears. So thanks guys, for giving up some of your time to bring a smile to the faces of our troops overseas.

It’s interesting reading the comments from both Ford and Chevy representatives saying fuel injection shouldn’t be that hard to do and it’s the way to go. 3 of the manufacturers are in favor of running fuel injection. We haven’t heard from the 4th one yet. But even if they do have all 4 in agreement on fuel injection, that doesn’t mean that NA$CAR will go with fuel injection. They have drug their heels for years on switching over to fuel injection. They’re so afraid somebody will cheat with electronic fuel injection. Like some teams don’t cheat now? If they’re that afraid of electronic fuel injection, then go find some of the old mechanical fuel injection systems that were used on the Corvette Stingray many moons ago,
