If you have read some of the fan stories you may remember reading about the Meat Men. They camped at the track in a way that most people couldn't or wouldn't. Like the meat men said "Others at the track may sleep better but no one eats better!" And they were right. Almost every one at the track slept better. We at Laidback racing know that these bubbas are REAL RACE FANS and we mourn the fact that NASCAR is now trying to get rid of them.
The U-Haul Crew
You used to see them everywhere. Now some of the tracks think they are too good for the kind of accommodations that the Meat Men use. Now you only see them at real race tracks AKA "Bubba Tracks" like Bristol, Talladega, Martinsville, The Rock Etc. You see they are part of a dying breed Laidback Racing likes to call the U-HAUL CREW.
Anywhere from 5 to 20 guys load up in a U-haul or a Penske Hauler, depending on if Rusty is their driver. When they open up the back and unpack, it is a sight. They unload grills, smokers, coolers, chairs, screen rooms, card tables, horseshoes, recliners & end tables from their living room, bikes and everything else they have packed to make it a great
When they are done unloading, all that is left inside are a few bunk beds and sofas for sleeping. These guys know that others may sleep better at the track but no one has spent less money to have the most fun!
