The Ole Days
The Good Ole Boys at the White House
Jimmy Carter had been the starter at a race in Atlanta while governor of Georgia. As a teenager he had worked at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. He said if he ever got to be President he wanted them to come & visit. When Jimmy Carter became president, he invited several of the drivers to visit the White House. Bobby Allison said that he knew just how big the sport was getting because of being invited there.
Well, they had cars from Richard Petty, Bobby Allison, the Wood brothers and Cale Yarborough sitting on the front lawn. Rosalyn was obviously a race mama because she said there were too far away from where the party was being held & she wanted them by the front door.
The cars were moved closer but Rosalyn still wasn’t happy. She wanted those bad boys cranked up! They were worried that the noise might shatter some of the china but Rosalyn had the final word & the cars were cranked.
It’s so good to know that an official Race Mama made it to the White House.
