Getting to Homestead Miami Speedway 2009

Unfortunately there is one way in and one way out: The Florida Turnpike.  So fans, get there early and hang out afterwards tailgating.

From the North:
Take the Florida Turnpike to exit 6, turn Right onto Ramp (SW 137th Ave / Speedway Blvd) go left onto SW 137th Ave (Speedway Blvd).   Keep straight onto (SW) 137th Ave (SE 43rd Ave)

From Miami:
Go West onto US-1 [S Dixie Hwy]. Go RIGHT onto SR-878 [Snapper Creek Expy] (SR-878 / SR-874 / Florida's Turnpike South). Go left onto SR-874 [Don Shula Expy] (SR-874) (Toll road). Stay on SR-874 [Don Shula Expy] (South-West) (Toll road).  Merge onto SR-821 [Florida's Tpke] Follow the rest of the above directions.

General Parking

Parking on Homestead-Miami Speedway property is free of charge. Overnight parking/camping is not permitted. Overnight or improperly parked vehicles are subject to being towed. Parking lot gates open at 6:30 a.m. on race weekends and close at dusk daily. See page 16 for RV parking information.

  Charity Events

Sail Fish Cup Banquet  Held annually at the Miami Beach Marina in the heart of Miami’s South Beach, the Sailfish Cup fishing tournament takes place Nov. 16-17. This catch-and-release event celebrates the2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup championship finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway and the opening of the sailfish season. On Wednesday, Nov. 18, the Sailfish Cup Gala and Awards Banquet is held at Jungle Island on South Beach (6:30 p.m.), with NASCAR President Mike Helton serving as Honorary Chairman. An evening of memories and celebration, the evening will conclude with the  awarding of the Bill France Jr. Memorial Sailfish Cup trophy, to honor the late NASCAR founder. Liveand silent auctions will benefit the NASCAR Foundation and “Speediatrics” childrens’ services at Homestead Hospital.

Hot Rods & Reels Darrell Waltrip at Hot Rods and Reels
The Hot Rods & Reels charity fishing tournament is an unforgettable event that allows participants to spend one-on-one boat time with NASCAR’s top drivers. Spend up to two hours Saturday of Ford Championship Weekend with the likes of Darrell Waltrip, Tony Stewart, Kyle Petty, Ryan Newman, Ken Schrader and Martin Truex, Jr. on the infield lake at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Each participant will have a chance to win the Miccosukee $1,000,000 challenge. In addition to unprecedented driver access and phenomenal fun, the tournament also benefits two very special charitable organizations: The Darrell Gwynn Foundation and Speediatrics.

OTHER IMPORTANT SPEEDWAY INFORMATION

The grandstands are all on the front stretch with the sun beating on them all day.  PLEASE remember the sunscreen and a hat!

WHAT IS ALLOWED INTO GRANDSTANDS
One (1) soft-sided bag/cooler per person, no larger than 6”x 6”x 12” inches. 
This rule will be strictly enforced!

One (1) clear plastic souvenir bag per person, no larger than 18” x 18” x 4” inches.
(Not allowed to contain ice.  Please keep ice in cooler.)
         
Cameras and video cameras are allowed on race days.

NO strollers, chairs, wagons, bicycles, roller blades, skateboards, pets (unless legally registered aid pets), umbrellas, large back-packs, large bags and/or large camera bags will be allowed through the admission gates. (Bags must be smaller than 6” x 6” x 12”).

NO ice, other than ice contained in a soft-sided cooler, will be allowed through the admission gates. NO glass containers/bottles of any kind are allowed.stead

Will Call

Will Call is located at the Main Ticket Office on the third floor of the Administration Building, and is open Monday thru Friday, from 9am to 5pm.

During the week of the race, Will Call is located in the Ticket Building on Speedway Boulevard, across from Gate 3 and will open 1 hour prior to the gate openings. Please be advised that Homestead-Miami Speedway does not accept third party Will Call. Tickets cannot be released to a party other than those that are set up in advance.
  
PHOTO IDENTIFICATION IS REQUIRED. There are no cancellations or refunds for
unclaimed tickets at Will Call. Will Call closes at the conclusion of on-track activities.

Lost and Found

Lost children or parents, and lost personal items (keys, wallets, glasses, etc.) may be taken to or claimed from:
• The Police Command Post inside of Gate 3 to the east;
• The Information Desk inside the Administrative Building; or
• The infield meeting room.
Lost children will be escorted to one of the above areas.

Public telephones have been placed in each of the following locations:
• Outside the Administrative Building – First Floor

Guests with Disabilities

Handicapped Parking: ADA parking is available on a first come, first serve basis in Lots A, E, and the Blue Lot. A disabled license plate or windshield permit must be displayed to access handicapped parking areas

Disability Assistance Carts: Homestead-Miami Speedway has a fleet of specially designed golf carts to aid disabled guests who may require assistance.  Disability assistance carts may be requested through the Speedway’s Information Centers, or by contacting a radio equipped Speedway employee.
       
Please be advised that delays may occur during peak times - immediately before and after the race.  Disabled guest transports will occur in the order of the guests’ arrival on a first come, first serve basis.

Should a disabled guest need transportation from a location other than one of those
listed above, a family member or companion is welcome to go to one of these
locations and a cart will be dispatched to pick up the disabled Guest.
 
Restrooms: All restrooms are wheelchair accessible.

Elevators:  Access to the upper grandstands wheelchair seating on row 49 is available via the Speedway Club Seating elevator located behind Section 215.  Access is restricted to the disabled guests and one companion.

Admission and Access: Tickets can be purchased in advance or on race day (based on availability) at the Ticket Office. One companion may accompany each disabled guest. Companions will be seated with their guests on the wheelchair platforms.

Service Animals:  Guests with service animals are welcome, but must keep their animals on a leash and harnessed at all times.  They must also bring their own waste disposal bags for the animals.

Guests with service animals may request wheelchair seating to better accommodate
the service animal’s space needs.

Wheelchairs: Disabled guests may bring their own wheelchairs for personal use while visiting the Homestead area and the Speedway.

Guests in need of renting a wheelchair may contact the Homestead Chamber at (305) 247-2332 for business referrals.

Greater Miami has one of the world's finest artificial reef programs, rated as one of the 20 best dive sites in Florida by Scuba Dive magazine. For divers and snorkelers who prefer their reefs natural, Greater Miami's Biscayne National Park (9700 S.W. 328 Street, Homestead, FL (305) 230-7275) is the place to go. The only living tropical reef within the continental U.S., the park sprawls over 180,000 acres and is a diver's dream come true.

Want to swim with the dolphins?  Visit Miami Seaquarium 4400 Rickenbacker Causeway, Miami, FL (305) 361-5705. Home of Lolita, the Killer Whale, and TV superstar Flipper, this sea world is located on 38 acres and offers great shows and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy including an up-close encounter with dolphins.

Take the time to visit Wings Over Miami Museum, an aviation museum and educational center that is filled with unique and classic military and aviation aircraft and flying war birds. Military memorabilia and aircraft from World War II to the present time are displayed.

At Miccosukee Indian Village & Airboat Tours discover a culture centuries old where you can see craft demonstrations, alligator wrestling, and a museum. Guided tours take you through the past, present, and future of the Miccosukee tribe and a thrilling airboat ride is available

Since you are almost there, you have to drive down US 1 and go thru the Florida Keys. Key West is the last Key and if you go that far you have to go to Mallory Square in the afternoon.  There are vendors, musicians, entertainers and a great show when the sun sets.
