Alt.- Take Interstate 35W to U.S. 287 North. Left on U.S. 287 to FM 156. Right on FM 156 to SH 114. Right on SH 114 to the speedway.

Directions from Dallas
There are a variety of routes from Dallas to Texas Motor Speedway. However, because of the volume of traffic associated with most major races at the facility, the following route is recommended:
North from Dallas on Interstate 35E to Denton, TX. At the junction of I35E and I35W, head back south on Interstate 35W. Exit right on SH 114 to the speedway.

Directions from Denton
Take Interstate 35W south from Denton, exit right on SH 114. Alt.- Take U.S. 380 west from Denton, turn left on FM 156 south to SH 114. Left on SH 114 to the speedway.

IF YOU TRAVEL HIGHWAY 114 WEST FROM DALLAS, YOU MAY MISS THE START OF THE RACE! Texas Motor Speedway advises race fans to AVOID State Highway 114 West from Dallas when traveling to the speedway for major racing events.
MAPS ON INBOUND AND OUTBOUND ROUTES PDF FILE (2008)

INBOUND 2008

I-35W both north and south will have adequate access to the speedway.  When exiting, there will be two lanes available.  FM 156 both north and south provides efficient and expeditious routing to the Speedway.  From the south, access to FM 156 can be had from both Loop 820 and Hwy. 287.  FM 156 can be accessed from I-35 north of Sanger.

Travel from the east will be improved by using the 114 bypass, which will provide two lanes of traffic into the Speedway.  This route provides an efficient route from the mid-cities area.

WEST IS BEST- One of the easiest and quickest routes inbound is to utilize SH 114 from the west.  Access to this route can be made from Hwy. 287, approximately 11 miles west of the Speedway.  Use of this route will allow you to enter the Speedway through Jarrett Drive, which may also be utilized as an exit gate.

OUTBOUND 2008

Traffic exiting the Speedway after the race will be placed into different traffic lanes from the exit gates from the Speedway. Each of these lanes will go to a specific major roadway. The following information provides driving instruction from each exit gate:

Gordon Road: Inbound campground only.

Mark Martin: On Friday-Sunday, Vehicles exiting Mark Martin will initially be directed onto the southbound Service Road of I-35W, and into the “Texas Turnaround.” Vehicles will travel south to turnaround, under IH35, then northbound on the IH 35 Service Road.  Vehicles may access IH 35 northbound from the Service Road, or continue traveling to Earnhardt Drive where they will be directed back onto the southbound Service Road in the left lane and continue south the IH 35 access ramp and on to the freeway. Those who must travel east who have exited the track to IH 35 W (S) follow IH 35 south to SH 170 then east on 170 to SH 114. Those who have exited IH 35 W (N) travel north to FM 1171, then East to HWY 377 and South to HWY 114 E. At such time as contra flowed traffic volume east on 114 allows, the south bound service road of I-35 from Mark Martin will be allowed to proceed east on 114 in the contra flow lane into Roanoke.

Earnhardt: Traffic will be directed south if in the far right traffic lane to the south access ramp to IH 35 W (S), or around the turnaround to the IH 35 service road northbound and onto the freeway.  Vehicles in the contra-flowed two left traffic lanes will be directed north on IH 35 W.  For any vehicle exiting north that desires to travel south, routing should proceed to the 1171 exit and turn around to go south.  To travel east to Dallas the best route is to travel north on I-35W to Denton and then use I-35E southbound to Dallas.

Labonte (Gate A): There are two lanes of traffic exiting this gate, and will be directed eastbound in the westbound traffic lanes. The left or north lane will be directed east on the west bound side of 114 into Roanoke, or north on to the I-35 service road and into the Texas Turnaround.  The south or right lane will be directed east onto SH 114 east as a normal directional traffic flow. For persons wanting to travel south from the Speedway, the most efficient routing is east to the SH 114 and Hwy 377 intersection and travel south.  Southbound vehicles may then proceed south to Loop 820.  Those who must travel north and find themselves on 114 east bound may utilize Hwy 377 north to 1171, then west to IH 35 W (N) or south to Hwy 170 and west to IH 35.

Allison: There are two lanes of traffic exiting this gate, and both will be directed east on SH 114. For persons wanting to go north or south on I35, they will travel east on 114 to Hwy 377. Go south on 377. Southbound vehicles can continue south on 377 to Loop 820, which is only 12 miles.  Persons needing to go north should exit at westbound SH 170 to I35W.  SH 170 intersects 377 just south of the 114/377 intersection.

Jarrett: There are four lanes of traffic exiting Jarrett. The two left lanes will be directed east to the southbound I-35W entrance ramp for travel south on I-35W.  For persons wanting to travel north they need to go to Eagle Parkway and turn around to take I-35W north.  Persons who have the need to travel east should proceed to SH 170 and take it east to SH 114. Sunday only will allow for the left lane to also allow an option for the east 114 route. The two right lanes of traffic exiting Jarrett Drive will be directed west and formed into one lane of traffic. This traffic needs to go west to 287, which is about 11 miles.  At 287, traffic needing to go south can use 287 or Business 287.  Business 287 leads to Loop 820 and avoids the I-35W traffic.

Petty: There are four lanes of traffic exiting Petty. The far right lane will go north on FM 156.  Traffic needing to access I35W can use 407 east in Justin or go north to 380.  Traffic needing to go north can stay on 156 to I-35. The second lane to the north will have the option of going northbound or southbound. The two left lanes we be directed south onto 156, using a contraflow to Eagle Parkway.  The left or contraflow lane will go to Eagle Parkway and then go east on Eagle to I-35W.  North or southbound I-35W can be accessed at SH 170, which is several miles to the south of Eagle Parkway.  Persons needing to go east on 114 can use SH 170 east to get to 114.  The regular lane of 156 will be directed south on 156 to Loop 820, which is 16 miles south of the Speedway.  No access to southbound 287 will be allowed from FM 156. During the contraflow, no northbound 156 traffic will be allowed from Eagle Parkway. All northbound traffic will be directed onto Eagle Parkway to I-35W.

FROM MIKE K. AKA Mad Mikie:If you sit low at TMS, you lose. You can't see over the wall. You've got to sit at least 12 rows up to see some of the action. If you want to see around the whole track, you've got to go about half way up. The best seats there are right across from pit road and they're all corporate block seats and are mostly empty. Lord I would've given almost anything to be sitting in one of those seats.

THE PLACE TO GO:  FORT WORTH STOCKYARDS:
On Friday nights we always go down to the FT Worth Stockyards.   There are great places to eat and always lots of race fans.
(You go thru the stock yards to get to Sundance Square 512 Main St, Fort Worth, TX 76102-3907 Phone: (817)339-7777 where the Chevy Thunder is held)
This is only about 20-30 min from the track (depending on traffic) when you exit the track from Petty drive, turn Left and follow the road to the Stockyards. (This is also a great back way into the track to avoid the heavy highway traffic.  This is hwy 156, it's a 2 lane road but we have never had any trouble with heavy traffic.  This hwy is East of I-35 and runs parallel to the interstate)

Billy Bob's Texas (worlds largest Honky Tonk) 2520 Rodeo Plz Fort Worth, TX 76106-8208 Phone: (817)589-1711 they always have great concerts going on during race week and often driver appearances.  2 lg dance floors.  If you love country music this is the place.  (Bobby Labonte has been here several times to sign) http://www.billybobstexas.com  (THANKS JAY!)

Cowtown Coliseum 121 E Exchange Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76106-8211Phone: (817)625-1025 (Legendary landmark built in 1908, Live rodeo every weekend yr round.)  I met Mike Wallace there this yr.  Also Jeff Hammond was there.  So the drivers go and hang out.

Stockyards Museum 131 E Exchange Ave Fort Worth, TX 76106-8212 Phone (817)625-5087 and Stockyard Station 140 E Exchange Ave Fort Worth, TX 76106-8203Phone: (817)625-9715 are also there.

We always eat at Cattlemen's Steak House.  2458 N Main St Fort Worth, TX 76106-8500
Phone: (817)624-3945 (also in the stockyards.) (My mouth is watering just thinking about it)  Great service, GREAT food.  If you don't like beef you won't like it, cause they don't serve a lot of other stuff.  Expect to pay about $20 per person, not including alcohol.   Mike Wallace and crew ate every night here this year.  Cattlemen's was an associate sponsor of his Busch Car.  This was our 5th yr eating there and we have always seen, race teams, crew chiefs or owners, or drivers here.
We waited in line the first yr, with 3 of DEI's big guys, Ty Norris, Don Hawk and another guy I can't remember who it was.  Oh yes, the only down side is we have waited as long as 2 hrs for a table, but we waited with the DEI guys.  Get there early and it's not bad, after 7p and you will wait.

All of the above are within easy walking distance of each other.  We park in a lot and spend the evening there.

FROM RANDY: Disabled I was a ticket holder for 4 years at Texas Motor Speedway.
I have a manual wheelchair and drive my own car.  I can not walk no matter how much I wish.  In my race experience at Texas was very disappointing.  The wheel chair space that I had was next to a 2nd spot.  The guy that held season tickets as I did was instructed that since he didn't have a disability that he would need to bring a lawn chair as no bench was at the location he purchased.  He didn't care he was close to his friends.
Then all of the spots in the parking lot were taken by the rear view mirror hanging placards.  Seems that if you are handicapped the person would have license plate.
Not all of the handicap seat locations were full at Texas.  I usually parked in the VIP area which is about 10 rows out or close to the end of the paved parking area.
By the time I got to the track entrance I was muddy and worn out physically. Pushing the chair up a sloped parking lot.

Gate openings – Various gates will be open each day for fans to access the facility. The following is the schedule with opening times and gates available that day: Thursday (10:30 a.m., Gate 4), Friday (11 a.m., Gates 1 through 8, 11 and North Tunnel), Saturday (10 a.m., Gates 1 through 8, 11 and North Tunnel), Sunday (9 a.m., all gates open). The South infield tunnel is open 24 hours for pedestrian traffic.

NEW PEDESTRIAN/VEHICLE BRIDGE
The six-month clover-leaf bridge project was recently completed and is expected to greatly improve traffic flow for both pedestrians and fans at the entrance of the South Tunnel. The new setup will alter the traditional traffic paths so please pay attention to the signs and traffic police in the area.

PEDESTRIAN PROMENADE
This promenade, located in front of gates 1-7, is a fan destination featuring rows of race displays, souvenirs and concessions. The area, which is two-thirds of a mile in length, has been widened to 70 feet is now completely closed to any type of non-pedestrian traffic.

NATIONWIDE INSURANCE FAN ASSISTANCE
Nationwide Insurance will again provide special fan trams, but the program has been improved with a designated tram lane and the trams making the complete loop around the inner-ring road. Look for the fan assistance pick-up signs.
FROM RACEMAMA:  I did not see on any of the maps where the tram stops are located.  If it is like Bruton's other tracks they will be well marked.

ATM Machines – Bank of America will have 14 ATM machines at various locations throughout the property. All gates on the frontstretch (1-7), the infield café, Gate 10 on the backstretch and The Speedway Club will all house ATM locations.

Campground busses – Texas Motor Speedway has purchased 11 city-style buses to further accommodate fans who are traveling from the campground areas to the speedway throughout the race weekend. The 40-seat buses will complement the Nationwide Insurance service that assists fans near the parking and inner ring road areas.

The superspeedway Will Call window is located at Gate 4. Only tickets for that day’s event that have been purchased directly through our ticket office or Ticketmaster are available for pick up at Will Call. Prior to event day, tickets may be picked up at the Speedway Main Ticket Office. No outside Will Call may be left at any ticket booth.

Seating

Texas Motor Speedway seeks to provide reasonable accommodations for all qualified individuals with disabilities. Please contact the speedway ticket office at (817) 215-8500 in a timely manner to arrange for appropriate accommodations and seating.

Parking

Handicap Parking spaces exist on the front rows of the Express Lot, Crystal Lot Speedway Club, VIP/PSL Lot and the backstretch Dirt Track parking lot. These spaces, like most public parking areas, are for Handicap Individuals ONLY and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Access to these areas requires a Certified Handicap Placard that is displayed prominently on the vehicle for inspection, and must be assigned to one of the occupants of the vehicle being parked.
Vehicles desiring access to the Express Lot, Crystal Lot and Speedway Club Handicap parking spaces must have the appropriate credential for entry into these areas. VIP/PSL and Dirt Track parking areas will accommodate general Handicap Parking needs when lots have been opened for public access.

Once all marked spaces have been filled, Handicap Patrons will be allowed to park anywhere within the VIP/PSL parking area in space available. Police personnel assigned to monitor marked Handicap parking areas will be issuing City Citations to those found in violation.
For more information, contact the Ticket Office at 817-215-8500.

Nationwide On Your Side Golf Cart Rides
Each major race weekend there are multiple golf carts that give fans a ride anywhere on Speedway property. The carts are marked with blue canopies and have the Nationwide On Your Side logos. This is a FREE ride, just wave one down or stand under the Nationwide flag located at each gate entrance.
